I have been a big backer of the revolutions in the Middle East, but consequences will come of it that are not favorable to the US. Religious tolerance will no longer exist as it did under the tyrants. The tyrants believed in a westernization of their countries. Hussein let people know that harming Christians or Jews in Iraq would not be tolerated, the same in Egypt and in Libya to a somewhat lesser extent.
In the long run it will be good for world peace, but I think the US needs to take a look at Victorian England and their Disraeli/Gladstone swings of the pendulum. We need to take a stable distance and allow what will happen to happen knowing that in the end, maybe generations from now that peace will be more than a cease fire. But brutality will follow these revolutions, as it always does.
Mob rule is never good, but it is a part of what shapes the future, whether we like it or not.
My mother's family is Lebanese, when I was young my Grandfather seemed to not want to talk about which country was which..and he was a Christian. But he knew that old white men meeting in England set forth borders and countries that would do nothing but create violence. I wish I had been old enough to talk more.
