The baton pass looks harder than it is in track. To watch both American teams drop their batons and get disqualified....there is no excuse. In four years of track in high school I never missed a handoff. It is just not that hard.
You get near the other guy and he takes off, when you are ready to pass it you yell, "Red" or whatever you decide upon and he snaps his hand back. You place it in his hand but make sure he takes it from you. You work on that about 10 minutes a week. It is always the passers fault if something goes wrong.
But the key is that he takes it from you.
