Heinlein's famous words
"A human being should be able to
change a diaper,
plan an invasion,
butcher a hog,
conn a ship,
design a building,
write a sonnet,
balance accounts,
build a wall,
set a bone,
comfort the dying,
take orders,
give orders,
cooperate,
act alone,
solve equations,
analyze a new problem,
pitch manure,
program a computer,
cook a tasty meal,
fight efficiently,
die gallantly.
Specialization is for insects."
Heinlein
But I like what Henklein (also known as Tipi-Dan) says better
"A transhuman being should be able to:
forestall the breeding process by any means necessary;
engage successfully in non-confrontational conflict resolution;
thrive on a vegetarian diet if circumstances impose it;
conduct widespread salvage of post-industrial waste on land and on sea;
demolish a useless and aesthetically offensive building;
write doggerel, limericks, and stimulating essays;
live within their means;
tear down the walls;
bone;
challenge the complacent;
ignore orders from the less intelligent;
resist orders from the more powerful;
coexist in acknowledged interdependence;
exist in absolute solitude;
pose problems;
augment soil fertility with farm waste products and grow food on same;
live happily without the latest technological gadget;
order food at a restaurant in a foreign language;
stand back and allow the inordinately aggressive to fight efficiently and kill each other off;
and die honorably (or at least humorously.)
Specialization is for pre-transhuman beings."
